Together, we build skills, confidence, and brighter futures for Kids With Autism – Workshop Success Story
At ABLE (Applied Behavioral Learning Experiences), we believe in meeting families where they are and making meaningful connections within the community. As part of our continued mission to provide high-quality ABA therapy services in Brandon, our team recently participated in a very special kids’ workshop in partnership with Lowe’s that offered both fun and learning opportunities.
The event, hosted at the Lowe’s in Brandon, was designed to offer children a hands-on experience while giving families an opportunity to connect, learn, and have fun. Before the workshop began, our ABLE team set up a welcoming table filled with educational resources, information about our services, and fun marketing materials for parents and caregivers. We were excited to speak with families and share how ABA therapy can support children with autism in reaching their goals.
All Hands on Deck – A Memorable Activity
As the workshop began, Lowe’s team members handed out real wood kits, hammers, and nails to the kids, who were invited to build their own wooden vehicles. Each child also received an apron and a patch, part of Lowe’s year-long program where kids can collect twelve different patches through similar workshops.
About 10 to 15 children attended the event, including several siblings. While around 10 kids dove into the vehicle-building project, while the kits were a bit challenging, it turned into a chance to bond, laugh, and encourage each other. Our team found themselves working side-by-side with the kids, figuring things out together and celebrating small wins like hammering in that one stubborn nail. One staff member even shared, “I was able to connect with the kids over how neither of us could make it work .”
Our team did their best to keep spirits high, and the challenges of the project even became a fun way to bond with the kids. And despite the difficulty of the activity, the kids left with huge smiles on their faces and their proudly built wooden cars in hand. We couldn’t be prouder of them either!
The hands-on experience, combined with the support of our ABA professionals, turned into a rewarding day of community connection, laughter, and learning.
