Autism Awareness Activities in Central Florida this May 2025
At ABLE (Applied Behavioral Learning Experiences), we believe that strong communities are built on connection, support, and shared experiences. That’s why we’re excited to announce that we’ll be participating in two wonderful upcoming events focused on kids with autism and their families: Sensory Saturday at MOSI and the Autism/ASD Support Group at Bonnet Springs Park.
Sensory Saturday at MOSI – A Morning of Discovery and Inclusion
Museum of Science & Industry (MOSI), Tampa
Saturday, May 17 | 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.
Sensory Saturday (formerly known as Day of Discovery) is a special event designed specifically for kids with sensory differences and their families. During this event, MOSI opens its doors early to provide a quieter, more welcoming environment for families to explore the exhibits together.
ABLE will have a table at the event where our team will be available to talk to families, answer questions about ABA therapy, and offer helpful resources for those navigating the autism journey. This is a wonderful chance to connect with other families, learn more about local support options, and let your kids enjoy hands-on, sensory-friendly fun in a stress-free environment.
Bonus: Each child attending will also receive a free MOSI patch and apron to start their collection!
Autism/ASD Support Group at Bonnet Springs Park
650 Bonnet Springs Blvd, Lakeland
Friday, May 30 | 10:00 a.m.
This free community-wide support group, hosted by Early Steps and CJB UW Children’s Resource Center, offers an opportunity for parents of children with autism to gather, share experiences, ask questions, and build meaningful relationships. Whether you’re looking for more information on a recent diagnosis or simply want to meet others walking a similar path, this is a great chance to grow and feel encouraged.
ABLE will be there to provide expert insight on ABA therapy and how early intervention and consistent support can make a real difference in the lives of children on the autism spectrum.
Why These Events Matter
Events like Sensory Saturday and the Autism/ASD Support Group bring families together in a supportive, inclusive space. They remind us that no one is alone in this journey and that every child deserves to be celebrated, understood, and given tools to succeed. These events also offer parents the chance to see their child engage, explore, and enjoy new environments in a way that’s tailored to their needs.
